Why was my recording canceled by LIV? What does that mean

I went to watch the Bulls game late last night and only 1 minute was recorded. Checking history it said “the recording was canceled by LIV”. What happened? I don’t want this to happen ever again.

Each box in your system can have a name set so you can identify which is which. Most likely "LIV" refers to Living Room.

If the box that canceled the recording is not the one that was doing the recording, than I would go into your Whole Home settings and change "Allow Remote Deletion" to "OFF" so that no other boxes can remote delete another's recordings. Be aware that all Clients (Mini Genie, Gemini, RVU/DirecTV Ready TV) can still affect the main Genie as they are extensions of it.

For some reason the DirecTV box named "LIV" cancelled that recording. That's what the message means.

Whether it was directly by a user (on purpose or accidental), a system glitch, or possible tuner conflict, all we can say for certain is the box labeled "LIV" (most likely for Living Room) is where the change happened.

All you can do is make sure remote deletion is off so that only the box the recoding happens on can make the change. As mentioned if you have a Genie setup, then Clients always have access (think of it like multiple TVs on the same box).

(path may be slightly different with the new GUI. I'm not at my box to verify)
