where's the pictures for cast and crew on hr54

have been a customer since 1994, upgraded to hr54 recently, pics stated loading in as normal, now for days or so there's no picture of the cast and crew, half the fun is gone, need updated now.

My Cast and Crew pictures disappeared a couple days ago too.  Went online to DirecTV site for troubleshooting and reset the receiver but was NOT fixed.  Talked to a Technical Help person and we did the same thing but no fixed results.  DirecTV then sent an email closing the two Service tags saying:  "We have reviewed your escalation and found no widespread issue’s similar to what you reported."

The Tech Help person said on the phone that DirecTV DID have widespread issues with the NO Cast and Crew pictures.

Still not fixed and am considering moving to DISH since DirecTV will not even acknowledge/fix this feature.

In addition to a red button reset, there are a couple options to try. You can unplug power from the Genie (HR54) for a couple minutes. That clears cached memory so it has to load it all fresh again, including the guide data. Usually the reload completes within 24-48 hours. There is also refreshing service authorizations, something you can do through your online account (though customer care can also do this as well).

As for moving to Dish, keep an ear out for updates. DirecTV was about to acquire Dish, but some issues arose causing those negotiations and offers to start up again. Waiting to hear if a new deal works out or if it falls through completely.

(But if you cannot enjoy watching TV without the cast/crew feature, I can understand your considerations).

this same problem is happening to us, it is only since we got new version of software pushed onto our hr54-200 a few weeks ago. we really liked that feature. did dtv have to remove that functionality in order to make room in the code for the new menu features of the guide? please give us back the cast and crew photos, please?

Been on going now for 2mo. I called and a few of the (Edited per community guidelines) tech people had no idea what I was talking about.

There was mention from official forum support a bit ago that this is a known issue. With the migration (AT&T selling off their remaining ownership in DirecTV) and other things they are working on I suspect it is lower priority, so not all are aware.

Hopefully it doesn't take much longer, but at least we can all watch TV.

Nothing to buy. I simply mentioned the official response and what I personally suspect.

Cast and crew is a nice feature, but not a requirement of the service. In the meantime enjoy the programming, the whole reason for the service.

The official response, a big red banner at the top of the linked page, is not there anymore. My refresh of the receiver has done nothing in 2 days.

I apologize, I think I misinterpreted your post.

If you meant who is buying DirecTV, not who is "buying" the responses given , that would be the co-owner TPG. They acquired 30% a while back and are now taking over the remaining 70%. They even attempted to purchase Dish, but that deal fell through. Don't know if they are going to try again.

the "service" included the pics in cast and crew, then gone for some customers after a software upgrade but many have them, so why do some get them and some don't....so not to go towards garbage hate crap, I'll say  there   is   a   problem'

Yes there is a problem, which as mentioned was acknowledged by official support in the forum as a known issue. We do not know the internal details of what the issue is, be it tied to a specific software version or something provisioned at the account level, etc. so cannot answer why some are affected and some aren't.

At this point it is wait for them to fix whatever is causing the issue. You can try a red button reset on your HR54, even logging into your account to refresh service authorizations, in case your box hasn't recognized a fix. Beyond that it is a waiting game I'm afraid.

(Thank you for avoiding the garbage hate. Too many lose their cool over the little things)

imagine my excitement when, right in the middle of recording a program in the middle of the night a few nights ago, i got the onscreen message that a new update was ready to install. i thought for sure it was gonna fix the cast and crew/no pix issue.   no option was offered to delay this installation, and after a few minutes the hr54 restarted and began installing update. when it finished, i checked and sadly, still no pix in guide for cast and crew.

I reset one-time and the pictures came back over a couple of days, so it wouldn't be immediate. But, no-doubt this is a drag. It can't be that big of a fix, as it was working fine for a long time.
