Unable to Record extension for tennis or tape next episode
I recently switched to the direct t v stream app From regular direct tv. When I watch Grand slam events, The french open for example which is what i'm trying to watch now... I will record the first round, And the first round comes on again... And when I try to record The next first round... It won't let me because it's defaulting to the first recording... And they are actually 2 different first rounds but I think the app recognizes it as the other first round. The first round which comes on from five a m to 1pm... Then I will try to record the next first round (Which is actually the night match) And it does not let me record it.. Because it thinks it's a repeat of the first Recording... This is very lame and frustrating because I am unable to extend the matches Or tape The next one... You really need to fix that glitch.

OK. I can't help you because there is no solution to this other than tennis channel sorting out the metadata problem. And since the problem has been there for three years I would not be confident they will sort it out now.
The guide for every program contains metadata which identifies the program. If the metadata for two programs is the same, the streaming service will think the two programs are the same. Your DVR has no way of knowing they are not. Yes, maybe the metadata is different between the sat and streaming services. I have no way of knowing. But I will check this out tonight.
And I can't see this has been a widespread issue. It's only been reported with the tennis channel.

It happens If a sporting event has the same Round Displayed on the guide... The tennis matches will say first round... But they have the first round going on all day.. And being recorded at 2 different times but the app recognizes the first round as me trying to record it again, and it won't allow me to.. These are different first rounds Because they have day matches and night matches... There is also no way to extend the matches... And no I am not doing this through my phone I am doing this through my television, thanks.

This is caused by a problem with the guide data supplied by the channel/guide data provider. Directv has no way to know these two programs are different because the metadata supplied by the channel says they are the same. .

If that were true, Why was I able to tape both when I had the regular direct tv app? It's something specific to the streaming.

I'm having this exact issue with roland garros. The 5am slot will not record even though I have it set. It will record the 1pm slot. I have the whole day set on record including the repeat slot and still won't record. I'm new to direct TV stream I'm currently doing the trial so far not impressed.

Mixedcolors10...I'm going nutso!!!...I am an avid tennis fan and I am missing some good matches because of this!!! I switched from regular directv late last year because of the cost, but I am very displeased with all the glitches in the streaming app...almost worth it to go back so I can watch the other majors without missing some amazing matches...missed Monfils amazing comeback last night!!!☹️😡

This problem has been reported before with the satellite system. Maybe not with this particular tournament, but with others.

Texas Brit...I've taped many tournaments And sports with the regular directv satellite on other channels as well and never once had this problem, so it's definitely not the channel/guide data provider... The streaming has a lot of glitches from what I'm noticing.

I am trying to remember when this happened before, on satellite. It might have been a tennis tournament also.

TexasBrit... I'm not sure if you're trying to be "right"... Or help me. I have been a direct t v satellite customer for MANY years and have always been able to tape repeats, or extend sporting events on ANY channel. Regardless of what round the guide says it is, with Absolutely no problems. The only reason I switched to streaming is because satellite was getting very expensive and I was getting spotty service when there were storms. I have only been using streaming for 6 Months and this has been a consistent problem, So it is not the guide metadata as you believe it is... If it is that, then it is specific to this directv streaming service .

TexasBrit...yes it is definitely a directv streaming problem, I could always tape 1st rounds on the same day at different times (even extending over to the 2nd taping)...I'm sure the metadata is different for satellite service, otherwise I would have had this problem all along, also my DVR always recognized it before (with satellite service) I'd be curious to see if you can find out if there is no difference, let me know...I suspect that there is a difference, as evidenced by results.... I can tell you this, I am not pleased with this streaming service for this reason, and other glitches.

Losing signal during storms can be minimized by a properly aligned dish but not eliminated.

So long as the owners of the channels raise their prices to be carried by TV providers including streaming services the price will always go up.
