Can’t get the guide to appear either

Make sure you're tv is on the correct input

DVR/Receiver model number?
Have you tried resetting it?

Are you sure it is a DirecTV channel pulled up?
If a red button reset doesn't fix it, try unplugging power for a couple minutes to allow it to do a full power cycle.
If the box in question is a Client (Mini Genie or Gemini), do the reset on the main Genie first as that is what gives the Clients their info.
