tv saying no signal

blue screen- tv says no signal- check external input or select another input using the INPUT button. 

did both of those things- nothing changed

First, identify the HDMI port that the directv receiver is plugged into. For example, if it is plugged into HDMI1, switch the TV input to the matching HDMI1 source.

Also, ensure that the directv box is turned on. You can see this by the blue light on the front.

If still no picture, you can try unplugging the DIRECTV receiver and plugging it back in, or ensuring that the HDMI cable is snug on both the TV input as well as the DIRECTV receiver HDMI port. Moreover, try a different HDMI cord or plug the HDMI cord into a different port on the TV (i.e. plug it into HDMI2 instead of HDMI1 and switch the TV source to HDMI2 to reflect this change).

2. What input should it be on?

3. How is it connected to the directv 

     receiver/client ?
