Phillies broadcast blacked out on Extra Innings
Why are so many of the Phillies broadcasts unavailable on extra innings? We have to watch the other teams broadcasts frequently even though we are no where near local to Philadelphia. It seems like most other teams have both broadcasts available.

We understand that providing you with your home team's broadcast is important, @wvphilliesfan. However, only the programmers, not DIRECTV, determine the content aired on their channels, including the broadcast feed. John, DIRECTV Community Team

DirecTV is not the programmer, not the one who creates the initial feed. They are a rebroadcaster, passing on what is sent to them. It is not "DirecTV Extra Innings" but "MLB Extra Innings".
If a game is in-market. You watch it on your Regional Sports Network (RSN). Or possibly a local channel if they got the rights to the game (so blacked out on the RSN as well). Only if it is out of market would be on Extra Innings (except for pre-season games of course).
However, MLB has some additional blackout rules. On Saturday and Sunday, Fox and ESPN have special rights. Also MLB sold off some games to Apple TV in a multi-year deal. This has made MLB have the most (in my opinion) frustrating blackout rules of all the major sports.
So it depends on the specific game if you may get it or not.
