Offline recordings on New Directtv app

On the old app, I can download shows and watch on the plane while traveling. On the new app, this feature is no longer possible. Does anybody know a way I can watch my recorded shows offline on the new app?

Thanks.

DTVhelp has said there is an updated app due out in August that will add that but not all channels are allowing it.

Thanks for the update. That will be helpful because I travel a lot, and that was the only reason I stayed with DirectTV. Otherwise, I might look for another provider.

Any update on this issue? August came and went and I haven't seen any changes to allow this.

It seems that this feature may never return.

The app does now allow recordings to be viewed but I am not sure about downloading the recordings. What is the receiver model of your Genie box? Is it connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your device? In order to view and possibly download recordings, you’d need to be in the home network that your Genie receiver is in. Moreover, ensure that the DIRECTV app you are using is fully updated.

It's an HR-54 with an 8TB external drive. Everything is on the same network and everything is current.

I'd argue that the app doesn't allow many recordings to be viewed. For many recordings, it shows an on demand version of the content. For many others, it is only watchable on the TV.
