No 4k channels on the directv app on appletv

I am no longer able to see the 4k channels on the directv app on my appletv.  A few months ago i had them and recently for the past few months they are no longer there.  Nothing has changed.  I have a apple TV 4k, a high speed cable, and a compatible 4k tv.

Hi, @Robert_24. We're sorry for no longer seeing 4K channels. Could you please share if there's an error code or message that appears? What troubleshooting steps have you taken so far?

No error message. On my guide, I just don’t see the 4k channels (104, 105, 106).

I have restarted my Apple TV and uninstalled and reinstalled the directv app to no avail

Have you tried to manually search for those channels? If you haven't yet, please try to do so. Meet us in a DM for further assistance.

If you're on the satellite side of the house, then you will need to call DTV for them to add the 4K add-on (no cost if you already have 4K set-top boxes) - this is a known thing since the Super Bowl. I hope this helps. This is why you don't see the channels in your guide @Robert_24

@GTyz so just to confirm, I need to call and have them add on the 4k and once I do, the channels should appear on my directv app on the Apple TV?

@GTyz didn’t work, they said the app doesn’t support 4k content, even though a few months ago I watched 4k content on the app.

@Robert_24 the app does support 4K content if you have a 4K TV, a 4K device (either an Osprey, AppleTV, Roku, FireTV), and if you have 4K add on in your satellite account - @DIRECTVhelp this customer needs attention please

I would argue the app does not support good 4k content on the apple tv.  If I try to watch a football or soccer game in 4k, it looks like its 20 frames per second.  This is on three separate TVs, ranging from budget brand to a 85" QLED powerhouse.   Even using the "suggested settings" does absolutely nothing and its always low framerate.

Yet, when I watch a movie in 4K using Netflix or Disney+, its gorgeous.  There is definitely something up with the 4k stream from DTV and Apple TVs.
