NFL 212

NFL channel 212 ( not the HD channel, which is no longer available, WHY?)  is horrible looking. The resolution is terrible. Other non HD channels look fine.  I have the HD package but am being told that YouTube is sending what they send to Directv and it really is bad.  Any others having this issue?  Support didn't know anything until they asked the Supervisor, and he had to ask someone else.

We are sorry to hear you are having picture issues with the NFL Network channel. The resolution depends on the equipment you are using. Please check your PM to continue assisting you. Haendel, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Of course the SD version is going to look poor. However, you should be receiving the HD version of NFL network fine. This is not at all related to YouTube TV. What is your receiver model? If you have more than one TV, list the receiver models of those boxes as well and if they have a similar issue where NFL HD is not showing. Have you tried a red button reset on ALL receivers? In the guide, does NFL Network in HD show up?

Thanks guys.  We had the 212 HD channel just a couple days ago but now it says code 721 when I go to it.  I was told by an Dierectv Super that they lost the NFL channel, but then he said they can only broadcast it with the resolution YouTube sends them.  I quickly realized they did not know what was going on.  All of my other HD channels work fine.  Only the 212 HD channel does not work.  It says it's not available.  And the non-HD 212 is not SD quality, it's much worse.  I asked the Super if I was getting the 212 channel, shouldn't I get it the HD channel also.  That's when he told me they can only send out the resolution YouTube gives them.  Nothing wrong with my receiver.  I have also rebooted it and did not help.  Are you guys telling me that you are still getting the NFL channel in HD?

That "super" was giving you info out of thin air.

DirecTV does NOT receive anything from YouTube. The NFL Network is not owned by YouTube. If the SD version was coming in ok but the HD version wasn't, then that would be a technical issue.

There is no "HD package". If you are a legacy customer, you pay $10 a month for HD service regardless of the package you have. Newer customers don't have an HD charge listed, but the cost is made up in other fees.

Again YouTube does not own NFL anything so they cannot send to DirecTV. What has happened is this year YouTube got the rights to broadcast the NFL Sunday Ticket, so DirecTV no longer has access to that for residential customers (still for business accounts like sports bars though). Still this isn't YouTube owning it, only having the rights to rebroadcast the games on their service. They cannot sell/deliver that to DirecTV.

Model of boxes?

Do they all have the issue?

What programming package?

Troubleshooting tried?

Anything happen before issue started?

I pay $10 a month for HD.  I get all my other channels in HD just fine.  Only the 212HD is no longer available to me.

Here is the response from an Directv specialist why I'm not getting NFL 212HD.....      "Appreciate your patience, James. OSD 721 may be displayed on the channel until the game begins. According to my system, the service authorizations are in good working order and the game will be broadcasted on the channel as usual when it begins. - Diego, DIRECTV Community Specialist"

Here is another response when I restated my issue to him.......   "I appreciate you giving me the details. In this instance, it is necessary for me to start an internal investigation of your case. Allow me a few minutes to finish this. - Diego, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Well, again a different answer from some one else after an internal investigation.  I guess I just had a decade long trial period! :)   But I still get the SD channel 212 NFL.  No one knows anything.  Probably the final nail in this coffin.  They take channels away and increase the price.......           "Thank you for being so patient. I have an update on your case. In the past, you had this channel due to a trial period, but to access the requested services, you will need to upgrade your subscription to CHOICE, XTRA, ULTIMATE, PREMIER, MAS ULTRA, LO MAXIMO, or the Sports Pack. Would you like to upgrade to any of these packages? I can help you to choose the one that best fits your needs. Let me know. - Rafael, DIRECTV Community Specialist"

I have the Choice channel package, 212HD is working here. SD channel is stretched and boxed to fit most of the screen.  It is possible that when the trail period ended you account had a glitch and didn't receive the cancel order so if you don't have the proper channel package or the sports pack you don't get the HD version.

I have what is called a "legacy" sub.  It's called the Select package.  I also have been paying $10 extra for the HD package.  We have always had the NFLHD channel.  If it's true that now my package doesn't include the NFL channel, why am I still getting the SD version of the channel?  Nothing has made any sense yet.  It shouldn't take this long and this many different answers to solve this issue.

Code 721 means a channel is not part of your subscription. Perhaps the removed the channel from your package.

Nobody listens I guess.  Why would I get the SD channel and not the HD channel?  If the NFL channel is not part of my package after years of having it, why do I have the SD NFL channel?

It sounds like the line item has been removed "NFL network hd" that's the only thing that would make sense and also you might have been getting it as a complimentary service and it's no longer complimentary for whatever reason but the sd version stayed (in error)

@jim12 I was just telling you what th error code means. The probbaly removed the channel from your package. Call the main number and at the prompt say Billing then say Loyalty Department. Speak with a loyalty agent. They should be able to help you.

HD service is $10. It does not come with additional channels. Some channels might only be broadcast in HD, but you still need the correct programming package to have them in the first place.

NFL Network has required Choice and higher. Since you have Select you weren't supposed to have the channel.

A rare issue is when there is a free trial (commonly the Xtra package level) is provided to all, when it is over the channel authorizations do not refresh correctly leaving additional channels you aren't supposed to have. Sounds like the authorization partially refreshed so only removed the HD feed of the channel when it should have removed both.

Sorry this is not the answer you were hoping for. But you did get to enjoy the channel for many years at no additional cost, so got that perk. You can change your package at any time, so you could raise to choice just for the time you want and reduce back to Select when NFL Network is no longer wanted. Though if it has been added to the Sports Pack that would be cheaper than raising to Choice, but do have to keep at least 30 days to avoid an early removal fee.
