Newsmax is streaming only

We used to be able to record Newsmax shows but the satellite feed is either not available or goes out quickly and changes to streaming mode, which is constantly interrupted. We cannot record shows in streaming mode. Is this a DirectTV issue? Not sure why this has changed. How can I start recording again and just get satellite feed for Newsmax?

Hi, @vivo. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. You're right. Newsmax is accessed via satellite feed and is available for recording. SignalSaver normally turns on when interrupted by a signal loss where recording is unavailable. Are you constantly experiencing weather issues in your area? Christy, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Most likely you need to align the dish.

Hello Christy, No we don't have constant weather issues in our area. This started a few months ago and is the only channel that we have this experience with.

Thank you for letting us know. Let's try resetting the receiver and turning off the SignalSaver feature through Settings by selecting Do Not Automatically Switch. Let me know if the issue persists. Christy, DIRECTV Community Specialist

Hi Christy, I reset the receiver and went to the Newsmax channel. The first message I got was 771 - Satellite Signal Issue. Something's wrong with this HD signal. you can switch to SD and keep watching or select More Info to start troubleshooting. I selected More Info then went to settings and set SignalSaver to Do Not Automatically Switch.  When I went back to the channel I got a different message: Turn on SignalSaver to keep watching. There's a satellite signal outage. Turn on SignalSaver and automatically switch to your home Internet Connection when signal outage comes up, at no extra cost.

So I had to go back to SignalSaver because that is the only way we can watch the Newsmax channel and we cannot record in that mode. We do not experience this with any other channels. There are no dish obstructions, no weather issues and the cable is connected securely to the wall, the SWM adapter and the receiver. Next?

That does the signal meter say about the 99/103 sats?

I also just ran a system test. The only test that failed was that there is no dial tone. No surprise there. So I'm stumped. It appears to be isolated with the newsmax feed and we can only watch it in SignalSaver mode. what gives?

Hi @shannon02,

I was able to get to the signal meter and it reads 95 to 97 on all 5 tuners and in that range when I look at various responders. I don't really know what I'm looking for here or what to do.  What are the 99/103 stats?

Move the cursor to the + then press select/ok to toggle thru the 99/103 sats post pictures or the reading on all transponders.  Only need 1 tuner.

When DTVhelp sends a PM/DM a box appears at the top of this page near the bell icon when you are logged in to this forum.  You can go to one of DTV's social media pages to send them a PM/DM.

It's fine, there is no requirement for an email or text to access your DM here.

Private Message/Direct Message (PM/DM) icon (text/speech bubble) is located in the upper right between the notification icon (bell) and "directv.com" You must log into your account to have access to it.

I have logged in to my community Forum account. There is no text/speech/chat bubble near the bell icon, the directv.com link or my profile login - nowhere on this page. I feel like such an (Edited per community guidelines) but the only chat I can access is from my directv.com account and I have to start from square one. I'll have to try the sat settings recommended and check back. thank you.
