Live TV pop-out window

Hi!  I'm wondering if this option is available on the DirecTV app for my Android.  I noticed on YouTube TV that when I exit live tv, the live TV will keep running in a small window on my screen. So that I can do other things on my phone at the same time, like check emails. However live DirecTV on my phone automatically shuts off when I exit.  Is there a way to keep it running in a small window while I do other things on my phone?  Thanks

I'm not aware of any way to do that.

Bummer.  That's a nice feature I wish they'd add.

And now I just missed another minute of a show I'm watching, lol.

The feature is not OS-specific, but rather a feature available on YouTube TV (different streaming SERVICE).

????

I have an iPhone and an Android and I use DirectTV app on both.  On iPhone you can minimize app while you use other apps and still watch TV on Android when you go to another app DirectTV app closes

The app works differently on the different phones, so you are providing incorrect info, the behavior is OS specific

@bnicolas

I misunderstood your question, my bad. I thought you were alluding to the original poster’s claim that YouTube TV has this feature on Android phones while DIRECTV doesn’t on Android, so I assumed it to be not OS-specific but rather an issue with the streaming app/service itself.

If what you are claiming is indeed true, I’d report it to DIRECTV as they could potentially try to integrate the feature. May I ask, what Android phone do you own? I have a Samsung Galaxy S21 and personally don’t use the live TV window, but I’d be willing to check and let you know if the window view works for me.

DirecTv,

You said two years ago you would rectify this issue. It still has not been rectified for Android. What is going on over there?
