Live Sports Cut Away

I pay for the NHL games.

In the last couple of weeks, as soon as the NHL game is over I don't get the postgame show on the local sports network that I also pay for via my SportsPack (635-1/MSG).

The screen goes to a "loading" screen.  It says to call if I've reached that screen in error.  

I already played that game once even during normal day programming on this channel, red button, got a 721 code after the full reset.  They "restored" the channel.

I don't want to deal with these hassles anymore.

I am not 100% sure what is happening but it might be correct.

Your live game will stop as soon as the game is over.

Most postgame shows (depends on the provider) are only available to people who are in the local coverage area of the channel. Just because you have MSG does not mean you will get the postgame show if you don't live in the new york area.

That'd be a change over the past 10+ years that I've had this setup.

Why it goes to a "Loading" screen rather than a "Too Bad for You" screen is still odd for the scenario you describe.  On the surface, the odds of your guess are most likely, but those are my two strongest arguments against it.

I'd like a solid answer to each of those questions.

Please don't laugh.  I've searched high and low for where to find the DM, but I am coming up empty.

I just finished talking with a helpful rep about the problem.  While talking I noticed that other Sports Pack channels were faulty, and the tech refreshed my channels and got them working.  However, this does not address the post-game issues I am having, but at least lends credence that these regional sports networks are routinely dropping out of my programming for an unknown reason.

The tech said he would call me in a couple of days to see how things worked after Saturday's hockey game, so we'll see how it goes.

When DTVhelp sends a PM/DM a box with lines icon appears at the top of this page near the bell, you can also contact them using DTV's social media pages.

Thanks, I feel better.  I had looked at the notifications/bell and didn't see anything there besides a recap of this conversation.  We'll see how Saturday goes.

Most post-game shows are not available on RSNs you are watching as part of sports pack. They are treated as if they were the actual game so are blacked out. It seems to be under the control of the team but is not consistent.

Yep, that DM worked.   I'll continue to work with the agent I've been coordinating with and use this as backup.  

Given that the postgame shows were seamlessly watchable for over a decade makes me think this is not a "control of the team" thing.  There's been no documented/announced change in policy.

Everything went fine on Saturday.  Worked as normal.

The only thing that has been dicey these last few weeks has been my connectivity to a cluster of regional sports networks (RSNs).  My guess is that the connection was out, the game came on which overrode the RSN connectivity issue, and then once the game was over, the system reverted back to me not having the RSN subscription (even though I do).

As long as I can stay connected to the RSNs, things should work.
