iPad Direct TV App

Have an older iPad Air with iOS 12.5.7 installed.

Recently the app is asking to update app because their is an update available, message below:

Update Available 

To continue beyond this screen, please update your DIRECTV app.

Update App

When click on Update App link it takes me to App Store And shows Update button by DIRECTV app.

Click on Update, receive new message:

Download an older version of this app?

The current version requires iOS 14.0 or later, but you can download the last compatible version.

Cancel | Download

Click on Download takes me back to same message - Download an older app.? (I.e., nothing happens)

Can’t get around this message. 

Also tried:

Deleting app and reinstalling and looked like it worked but then get the Update…. message again. 
Turning off automatic updates

Turning off Background App refresh in the app settings.

Any suggestions?  Other than get a new iPad.

Thank you for the response. Agree that having it available on all my devices is the best way to enjoy the app. Unfortunately, the iPad does not allow me to upgrade to iOS 14.  That would solve the challenge I am facing. I am just curious that the message says you can download a version that is compatible with lower versions of iOS and it doesn’t work.

Will check out the link on compatible devices.
