Incorrect Local Channels when Using Streaming App
I have DIRECTV satellite service, but I often use the app to stream since we use our Apple TV to watch other streaming services, and it’s easier than switching input. Generally, it’s not a big deal since I can switch to satellite if I really need the correct local channels. However, it would be nice to have the correct local channels when streaming in the case of severe weather when satellite is less reliable.
I live in the Charlotte, NC metro area, but I get Atlanta area channels on my streaming devices (Apple TV & Fire TV). I lived in the Atlanta area until 2019, so I thought my billing address may be incorrect, but my account shows the correct address and zip code. To further confuse things, when using my phone, I see both Atlanta AND Charlotte channels, so I’m assuming my phone is able to use both my current location and the location associated with my account.
How can I get my account updated, so that my streaming devices show the Charlotte channels when I am at home? Obviously my online profile or billing address isn’t what determines the local channels I see.

The instructions in the link you provided are not helpful. I attempted to follow the instructions in the troubleshooting section, however the menu options in the instructions are not available to my DIRECTV app. I’m assuming these instructions are not applicable to people who have satellite service. Also, as stated in my original post, the billing zip code on my account is correct.

Thank you for providing that information. I understand that you have the SATELLITE service, and this happens to you when you try to watch your local channels on the DIRECTV app. Please send us a DM to gather more details on your account and make the request to a specialized team. I'm here to help.

I no longer have satellite service. I switched to DIRECTV Stream about a year ago. I don't have this issue with DIRECTV Stream.
