I have not be able to download the updated DirectTV app to my Samsung Smart TVs and these are listed as compatible devices.
When I search for the uodated DirectTV app on my Samsung smart TV’s, the app does not appear in the App Store. These are Samsung TV’s listed as compatible devices. The only DirectTV app that appears on Samsung App Store is DirectTV stream.
I have satellite Direct Tv and was excited about the update DirectTV app being available on smart TV’s including Samsung but I am getting inconsistent info about Samsung TV working with DIRECTV app (not just DirectTV stream. Your response says the regular non stream DirectTV app works on Samsung smart TVs but some articles online say it doesn’t and I called direct tv yesterday and the agent clearly said a few times that the DirectTV app only works with AndroidTV’s such as Hisense or Sony. She said it will not work with Smart TV’s including Samsung TV’s.
please advise. Thank you.

The old apps have been replaced by one that is for both DirecTV and DIRECTV STREAM. It is still a work in progress. I wouldn't be surprised if the compatibility list needs to be updated.
Be aware that the DirecTV app will not give you full service. They are still a service by satellite company, so streaming perks are limited. For full service you need to have a DirecTV box on that TV.
Historically the app on Samsung 'smart' TVs have been sub-standard. It is suggested instead to use a dedicated streaming box (Roku, Firestick, etc.) if you already have one.

I had similar issues on both my Samsung TV’s. Got a Roku for both and works great.
