Free previews when using “Favorite” guide

This does not really answer the question. If there are no issues using the favorites guide why would you recommend using the main guide. 

Generally DTV sends a message when there is a free preview coming up and it doesn't matter if you are using the favorites list. 

I don’t remember ever receiving a message but that could be because I always saw they were available. How do they typically message?

It is sent to all receivers, press info then left arrow to "messages"

Please keep in mind, that channels and program titles appear white (active) in the on-screen guide during free previews, and are grayed out (inactive) when the preview ends. I used to get messages from Directtv about free previews but now I haven’t gotten any messages in about 5 months… what happened?
