Fox Sports and local broadcast

Will there be a resolution to the Fox channel being added back to Direct TV?  I am going to make a decision by this spring on returning to cable or staying with DTV.  There are too many sporting events on Fox to not have it.  I have been paying an extra $60/month to watch events like the World Series, Super Bowl and many others.  Please resolve this.

This is a public forum of other customers. Complain to FOX for demanding so much more money from DIRECTV to carry their channel. It’s about greedy channel owners.

Going to another provider is only a temporary solution. They too may have contract negotiations with FOX in the future that may result in you ending up in the same predicament as now.

The only real solution is a OTA (over-the-air) TV antenna.

Also, you shouldn’t be paying more money for the super bowl. That was offered completely for free. FOX is a FREE OTA channel.

Have tried a couple of antennas with no luck picking it up ota in my location. Also I was already subscribed to get events that were not free like the Super Bowl, but technically you are correct I did not have to pay extra for the SB.

Your best bet is reaching out to your local FOX station and demanding they return FOX to DIRECTV. Negotiations occur all the time among TV stations and providers, the most us customers can do is complain and wait it out unfortunately.

DirecTV and your local Fox affiliate station (not Fox itself) were negotiating the next carraige agreement. Since a new agreement was not reached by the time the current one ended, your local affilaite pulled the channel as is their right. So the channel stays off until a new agreement is reached.

The stance many of us have is why should TV providers, which does include us customers by way of our bills, pay more and more for channels that are free over the regular airways? That is why a local antenna is suggested to get what is in range. Unfortunately it sounds like you are in a spot that doesn't get good enough signal. But this is what those local affilates thrive on, especially when their agreement ends around major sporting events, to use us customers as leverage to further raise rates.

Switch providers will not be a guaranteed save. All of them go through negotiations, and in recent years local affilaites are getting more heavy handed with pulling the feed and playing hardball. So you could switch and then just go through it all over again when it is the new provider's turn.

Same! I’m so upset. I was able to stream it until about 3 weeks ago and they also took that away. Already searching for another provider. Just not right!!!

All TV providers go through carriage negotiations. Not a single one is immune.

However, that doesn't mean that is what your situation is. I would first check DirecTV's info page first. If it is a negotiation, then it will be back once the channel owner allows it. But if something else such as a technical issue, then start a fresh thread for assistance.
