DVR is re-recording old episodes

We have series set to record new episodes. This has worked seamlessly for the first two years. In the past two months we’ve noticed it was recording episodes we already watched. We delete them check to see if we have programmed only new episodes. Then the next day it has recorded them all over again. It’s not only annoying but it is using up our data usage. We pay $450 for so many gigs. If we go over it’s way more expensive. Conni

First off, unless you are recording On-Demand content, satellite TV content recorded to the DVR should not take up any "data" usage, and you should not be paying $450 for so many "gigs" that are delivered through a satellite and don't require the use of internet access. Second, please go to the specific series in the "Playlist" section of your DIRECTV receiver, click the "info" button, go down to series options, and make sure the "first run" is selected for episode type and not "repeats" or "both." Also be sure to keep the desired amount of episodes in your playlist next to the "keep at most," section. When you are finished, select "Save changes."

If the channel marks the progrms as"new", or does not mark them at all,the DVR will record them. Give us some examples.

I an encountering this problem as well.  I tried the "remedy" listed above

" go to the specific series in the "Playlist" section of your DIRECTV receiver, click the "info" button, go down to series options, and make sure the "first run" is selected for episode type and not "repeats" or "both." 

There is no such "first run" option available on my series option screen.
