DTV SCAM CALL (Moved satellites)
I just received a call from someone pretending to be the DIRECTV satellite technical department and he said they moved their satellites (LOL) so I must go to my receiver and press MENU twice and then they will tell me what to do next. I knew it wasn’t DIRECTV, I knew it was a scam, I knew they didn’t move their satellites, and I hung up. But can someone explain what the scam was? I for the life of me cannot figure this one out. Normally I can figure out the scam.

If you fall for the scam and when their instructions fail they will try an sell you an update or a new receiver, then they mark you for more scams and sell your info to others. This scam has been going on for years.

Thanks. Sounds about right. I must get 30 calls a day from scammers, and sometimes have to have my phone on silence and depend on voicemail. I am sick of these people.
