Disney bundle with new deal between DTV and Disney
If I have read the reports correctly, it seems as though part of the new deal agreed to by DTV and Disney allows customers with certain DTV packages to get the Disney Bundle (Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+) for free. I already pay for that bundle separately. I was wondering if anyone knows how to go about getting the bundle for free through DTV?
Thanks in advance for any insight!

As part of our new agreement, DIRECTV subscribers with the latest Gemini hardware will *soon* gain access to Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu. More to come!

So having your highest programming package without the Gemini equipment will NOT get me the Disney Bundle? Is that what you are saying?

What does it cost to upgrade to the Gemini equipment? And does upgrading require a new 2 year contract?

Yes, any new equipment to your account starts a new contract. AFAIK the Gemini C71WK is $149 unless you have a free upgrade coming and the $99 tech visit to install it.

Could DIRECTV be a bigger joke? All they do is get in dispute after dispute and cause you to lose your channels, while at the same time announcing that they are raising prices. Then, when they strike a new deal with Disney, they brag about how you are going to get the Disney bundle for free if you have certain level packages. What they don’t tell you, however, is that even if you have the highest programming package like I do, you don’t get the bundle unless you also pay an upgrade fee and agree to a new 2-year contract. DIRECTV used to be the best, but those days are long gone. I’ve had it with them. I don’t know what took me so long, but YouTube TV here I come.

The C71WK is the only mini client that can use apps from streaming services. DTV is a satellite service.

@TruthTime
What are the models of boxes you have now? Though the Gemini or Gemini Air (smaller dongle version) support streaming apps, they are still a Client for DirecTV (satellite) so requires a specific setup and might be a sacrifice in some capability depending on what exactly you have.

@Juniper
I have DTV on 3 TVs. I have a Genie 2 main receiver, and then I have 2 4K Genie Minis (C61K-700) and 1 Genie Mini (C61-100).
As mad as I am at DTV, I called them last night to inquire about switching over to the Geminis, and I got absolutely nowhere with the guy on the phone. He didn’t even appear sure whether Gemini could be used for satellites versus only on streaming. He was also totally unclear as to whether I would need to replace all of my equipment or whether the Geminis are an enhancement to the equipment I already have. I ended the phone call with him even more frustrated than I already was with DIRECTV.
i’m just trying to understand whether it makes sense for me to upgrade to the Geminis and if so what I would need to do to make that happen. If you, or anyone else here for that matter, could help me with that it would be very much appreciated.

I’m signed in and there is absolutely nothing between the notification icon and directv.com.
