Directv on LG TV

My housesitter is cyberphobic, so I need to only play Directv from my set-top box whenever she's here. When I set it up this way, it works fine until I choose to play a program that has been recorded on the Directv DVR. When I select which recording to play, the HDMI input changes and I get a "no signal" indication. Do I need an additional cable between the receiver and the TV for DVR playback?

Hi @rbecker, we're sorry you're having issues when trying to play DVR recordings. You don't need an extra cable, we recommend unplugging and re-plugging the HDMI cord. The only cable connected between box and TV should be the HDMI cable. What model is that DVR?

I would verify you are not plugged into a "smart" power strip and that the TV has HDMI-CEC turned off (if it has it). Those don't play well with DirecTV equipment and may cause a lost of powered signal recognized, resulting in TV changing inputs.

You can also try unplugging power from TV for a couple minutes and seeing if there are any software/firmware updates for it, in case the issue is on the TV side.

Having a housesitter who is afraid of technology certainly makes things difficult.
