Directv Is A SCAM

The people who work there are (Edited per community guidelines) liers.  First, they said my bill would be $65.00 only to received my first 2 bills of $120 monthly; Second, they never submitted my $200 rewards to the Directv; Thirdly, because of bad management thy cut off CBS which was important to me.  Whenever I called they are rude as (Edited per community guidelines).  Fed up with them, and will never go back to directv whatsoever.

First two bills being $120 does seem high for intro pricing. Did you compare the order confirmation DirecTV sent you before you were installed? Does it line up with those bills and if not what is different? I do wonder if the $65 was just the intro cost of the package before anything else you had.

Where exactly did you order DirecTV? Was it directly with them over the phone or website or a 3rd party contact (which all physical locations are).

Was that $200 a rewards card and if so was it store specific?

DirecTV didn't cut off CBS and has nothing to do with "bad management". Most likely your local CBS affiliate station is owned by Nexstar. The owner of the channel (Nexstar) took it away as is their right. They are wanting to increase rates more than what DirecTV feels is reasonable and so are playing hard ball. Remember if DirecTV's operating costs go up than our bills go up that much more. So you can thank Nexstar on that one.

Customer support took a big hit from the pandemic and hasn't recovered. On top of that the new owner AT&T finally realizing they bit of more than they could chew (in my opinion) sold off 30% to a new co-owner that has taken over day to day operations. So low staffing, increased outsourcing, changes behind the scenes from the new co-owner, and exhausted agents fed up with people crying over the Nexstar situation (which customer service reps have no control over) have compounded the issues. Yes those agents should not be rude, but it can be understandable as phone support is not the most enjoyable position (plus I wonder how many times "rude" just means not saying exactly what the customer wants to hear).

DirecTV is not a scam. There are definite spots for improvements to be made with customer support. And the Nexstar situation can happen to any provider, they all go through negotiations and when it comes to greed Nexstar isn't the only one.

For Nexstar, plug in a regular antenna for the free local broadcasts. Nice backup no matter the provider. Regarding the bill, with a bit more detail perhaps guidance can be provided on anything that may need adjusting or fixing.

At $120 makes me wonder if they are on Premier, Ultimate, or how many TVs or add-ons they have. After the first 3 months (so starting with 4th bill) the credit for the premium channels drops off which is a jump in price if the OP doesn't remove before the 3rd month ends.

Either way, it is Nexstar who took their channels away from DirecTV. It would be bad management if DirecTV caved to the demands and raised everybody's bills that much more. Local channels are only free over-the-air (OTA), not to pay TV providers.

Not a single channel is guaranteed or entitled to us. If a local channel is desired that much, using a OTA antenna would be a good addition. Protect against carriage negotiations and may even pick up additional sub-channels that aren't carried in the first place.
