Directv freezes on live TV and recent recordings
My directv will not play live TV, it freezes and loops a few seconds. Also most shows or movies I have recorded in the last 2 weeks will not play. They show being a 30 minute or 1 hour recording but part way through the show the delete message pops up. I can play a movie I recorded a month ago or a year ago but not recent and live TV is freezing. I think my dish receiver is going bad.

What DVR/Receiver model number?
Any on-screen error message while watching Live TV?
Incomplete recording is often a symptom of poor satellite reception.

My model is the HS17-100 genie with the C61W-400 wireless genie mini. I get no on screen error codes, the picture just freezes. Other times i will select guide or list or prev channel and the response time ranges from 1 second to 2 minutes with no rhyme or reason as to when. My recent recordings may play for 1 minute or 5 or even 40 minutes before glitching and asking if I want to delete or not. When I restart the program they will glitch in the same exact spots the same exact way.

I have attempted the online "refresh receiver" but it says it cannot do that at this time. I have unplugged the main receiver and the genie mini and rebooted them. Nothing has changed. I can barely watch live TV as it glitches and freezes randomly and I cannot watch recent recordings for the same reasons. I can watch older recordings which leads me to believe there is no problem between the main receiver and the genie. I believe the problem lies in the satellite sensor.

Try a red button reset on the HS17 and all Genie minis. You can also try doing a KEYWORD search for CLEARMYBOX by going to Settings and Search. This CLEARMYBOX command removes cobwebs and other issues with the DIRECTV box.

I'm having the same problem. It's virtually impossible to watch a recorded sporting event. The recording freezes and I have to restart the recording from the beginning and fast forward to where I was. We've tried everything we know of.
