Directv does not care about their customers at all.
I am unable to watch a basic channel due to contract negotiations. The excuse is that Directv is trying to save it's customers money. Really? Stop it. Directv is TOO expensive as it is. Directv has enough money to take a hit for its customers, if they really cared about our pockets. Not all people are dumb. It's simple. Eat the cost to please your customers. I have been with Diretv too long. Every time I think of switcing to a different company, I get anxious and decide to just stay with them since I have been with them for over 20 years. It is time that I dumb my anxiety and just leave. Tired of paying super high prices WITHOUT have premium channels. My bill is over $240 every month. Going to wipe the big STUPID sign on my forehead and shop for a new service. Sick and tired of NOT being treated like a valued customer. To top things off, a show that my mother enjoys watching is now going to cost $2.99 per episode. (Edited per community guidelines)?

DTV is only collecting what the content provider is charging for their On Demand programing, recording from the sat channels is "free". All TV providers have this problem with the locals and content providers removing their feed.

The more DirecTV has to pay a channel owner, the more our bills go up. So by negotiating to minimize that cost that saves what they have to pay it also saves us money by association. Certainly saving the customer money is not the direct reason, but it is still part of it.
You are rather naïve if you think DirecTV has enough money to just eat the cost. All networks raise their costs, and local affiliate owners are doing so to the point of pulling the feed more often in recent years.
No TV provider is immune from this happening so switching doesn't magically protect you. If another TV service works better for you, so be it, but don't be so ignorant you think this will not happen again.
This has nothing to do with treating you as a valued customer or not. You're not so special that money will be thrown at the local affiliate owner just so you can watch your favorite show. Plug in a regular antenna and get the free broadcast. Or offer your local affiliate owner to pay everything that nobody else wants to pay.
As for the $2.99, that is a separate situation. Many networks have added PPV episodes on top of their free content. This is to make money of binge watchers. That is not a DirecTV decision but the network/content owners.
Time to open your eyes and see the situation for what it is instead of thinking this is an attack by DirecTV against customers and their value as you claim. Certainly DirecTV is going to negotiate in their best interests, just like the network owner. They are both businesses and you are just a customer.
Bottom line, the more DirecTV's operating costs go up than so do our bills as they cannot just eat the cost. They don't have money just sitting around to throw at every network owner so you can feel more valued.
