DIRECT TV

I live in an Independent Living facility wherein basic Direct TV is provided, but a Direct TV Remote is not provided. Do I need to purchase a DIRECT TV Remote and program it to access programs? Can I use the remotes that came with my two TV’s, one an LG and one a Toshiba? Thanks in advance.

What's your DirecTV box model number?

What model remote did it come with?

Like I said Direct TV is part of the deal. There is a coax cable outlet in wall that I hooked the TV to and no TV was provided. Can not provide part numbers.

Locations like independent living facilities often have specialized DirecTV equipment. They are not installed or serviced by DirecTV but rather by a company specializing in locations like yours. If you don't know exactly what equipment you have you'll need to talk to someone in your facility office and ask what company installs and maintains that equipment.

You almost certainly have a system where equipment somewhere in the facilty takes a selection of Directv channels and converts them to channels and signals that your TV can display. You can't access any channels that don't go though the conversion. That means you don't have your own  directv box at all. If so you need to use the remote provided with your TV, nothing to do with directv.
