DIRECT TV APP on new Samsung TVs

We have direct tv satellite service, AND HACE HAD A 4 yr old SamsungTV with the direct tv app installed.  With the tv remote you could click on the app and it would bring up a choice to click on, either “guide” or “recordings” so you could go where ever you wanted in Direct tv land all with the TV remote.  We just bought a new Samsung Oled tv and loaded the app.  When clicked on, it only displays a colored screen with the words Direct TV.  There is no place go go for guide, recordings, or even to sign in. You can control nothing with the tv remote.  We now have to use the direct tv remote to make changes in what we view.  The tv remote controls volume.  We dont like having to use several remotes.  How come the new app does not allow use of the tv remote to manage files?  fWhat can we do now  Have had no success with dealing with either Samsung, or Direct tv support.

The Samsung App is not very good. Most likely Samsung has not updated the app for the new model yet. You'll have a much better experience with a quality streaming device, like Roku, FireStick, DirecTV Stream box, Apple TV, etc.

in my multi hour work with Samsung support, they tell me the app is created by Direct Tv not Samsung.  I am not convinced they know.

If Samsung is waiting for DirecTV to update their app, they'll be waiting a long time.

I also spent amazing amount of time on phone with Direct TV support who also said they have nothing to do with it and that I should just use the DTV remote.
