CBS Pixelating on live sporting events

CBS (channel 19 local in my area - 44212 zip) always pixelates during live sporting events.  This is with satalite.  The app works with no issues.  This is not a new issue.  Signal strength looks good, rebooted the box, etc.  Any ideas?  Super frustrating.   Thanks!

CBS Sports has had this issue for several years.  I only notice it in football.  It also occurs on their Sports Station which is Channel 221 so its not the local affiliate that is the issue.  Its CBS nationally.  I think their equipment they use does not broadcast in 1080.  I have as Sony Bravia and I have adjusted the picture motion control.  Under advanced you can adjust both the Motion control and the clarity of motion.  It cut down the pixelating issue quite a bit.  I am no tech guru but I believe it is also related to the black background and/or black pixels during motion that causes this for CBS.

You could try contacting your local CBS station since pixelation is an issue with their broadcast to DIRECTV

Hello @dink20, we want you to enjoy your channel at the best quality. We suggest try these steps first:

- Make sure that your TV isn’t in standby or screensaver mode.

- Check the video input cable to make sure it’s firmly connected to your device and to the HDMI or composite connector on your TV.

- Swap out the HDMI cable with 2.0 or higher - use the provided HDMI cable.

- Be sure to check the input (or source) that your device is connected to. Or try a different input. For detailed step, visit https://www.directv.com/support/article/000093281. DIRECTV values your loyalty. Jhon, DIRECTV Community Specialist

It is on all of my 6 TVs with clients.  Gemini, mini Genie wireless and wired.   The recordings are pixelated on my server .... so it has to be something from the server out.

Looks like pixelation coming from the station.

Do any of your neighbors have directv and are they seeing the same problem?

DTV satellite doesn't use servers, so if is on both it is a signal problem from the station.

Neighbors do not seem to have this issue but do not have newer TVs (may be less apparent).  Server is a Genie 2 HS17

As an added comment, I see several people on here listed as "ACE".  Obviously you all have been doing this for some time.  Not to be overly critical, however almost all your responses are passing the buck in my opinion.  All any of you would have to do is turn on a football game on the local CBS affiliate or Ch 221 and you would see exactly what the OP is talking about.  Granted this is not a Directv problem but stating so and then moving on does not help the OP.  The guy is looking for a solution.

The problem with the Cleveland CBS station is not related to DirecTV or the CBS national programming feeds, it's the local station (WOIO).  WOIO multiplexes the CW station, WUAB, plus all the sub channels for each station, on VHF Channel 10.  Live sports demands more bandwidth due to the constant motion.  The GM at WOIO is aware of the issue, I emailed him.  There's only 8 MHZ of bandwidth for all those services, compression is the only way to make it all fit. One suggestion is to watch WOIO in Cleveland using Paramount+, YouTube TV, or other streaming apps. Most streaming services use a fiber feed of the program signal BEFORE it is compressed at their transmitter.
