Right now Directv and Nexstar are in a dispute over your local CBS station. I do not understand how you do not know it has been on Directv's website all over the internet and even on the news. But Directv is giving people affected by this dispute a one-time $10 credit, which can cover the cost of streaming Paramount+ for a month or more depending on the plan you choose. This is much cheaper than paying $20 a month for the rest of your contract commitment to switch to a new provider as you only have 24 hours from installation to cancel service before you are locked into your contract.

You say nobody told you that you didn't have CBS. Did you ask? They cannot tell you ahead of time unless you inquire about the exact channel.
Unfortunately DirecTV is going through a carriage negotiation with Nexstar (the owner of your CBS affiliate station). The channel owner is holding out for higher rates, which would further raise our bills. DirecTV is not the only one that has gone through this frustration.
Be aware that when you signed up for DirecTV it was with a 24 month service agreement. So if you do switch you will have an early cancellation fee (ECF) valued at $20 for each month remaining. And there is no guarantee that your new provider will not go through the Nexstar headache, or even with another channel owner. All TV providers go through this as they don't own the channels.
