Cancel DirecTV w/o penalties

DirecTV has stopped carrying my favorite local channel because they couldn’t reach an agreement with the company. I’d like to cancel my contract because they’ve breached my contract. Can I do this without costly penalties?

Nope, read the TOS you agreed to when you signed up.  Channels and programing are subject to change at anytime.  Most likely your local channel is owned by Tegna and they are the ones that removed their feed to DTV.  There is no contract you agreed to keep DTV for 2 yrs or you will pay $20 per unused months if you cancel.

They didn't breach your contract at all. Apparently you never read it. It has a clause that channels are subject to change at any time. All TV providers have a similar clause. They don't own the channels so cannot force them to always be there.

Simply put, there is no obligation to provide you any specific channel. That being said, channels owned by Tegna are only expected to be gone temporarily. Once they hash out a new agreement the channels will be back. This is the same as when it happened 3 years ago. Welcome to how the TV industry works.
