App on Chromebook stopped working, location services issue

I've been using the app on my Chromebook for a while now with no issues but after the recent update to Chromebook the app tells me locations services is off,  I checked the setting and it says it's on...I tried uninstalling/reinstalling but I'm still getting the message! it works on my phone and fire sticks just fine and it used to work on my Chromebook for months now but now it says it won't do anything till the location services issue is fixed. Is there anyway to find out what's going on? Thanks.

Do you have the newest directv application from the Google Play Store? If so, your Chromebook’s Location Services need to be turned on.

Here are instructions I found online:

  1. Settings App, under "Apps," select "Google Play Store"

  2. Under Google Play Store, select "Manage Android Preferences"

  3. A new settings app window opens, select "Security and Location"

  4. In "Security and Location," under "Privacy," select "Location"

  5. In the upper right hand corner, set the toggle to "on”

Hello @Summerpop

We certainly want you to have the opportunity to stream your services online, and it's understood that technical issues can be frustrating. We're glad to help.

For any specific technical support or "how to" information for your Chromebook, visit Chrome Support for information.

The DIRECTV app is confirmed to be working on iOS and Android mobile devices without issue. If you're experiencing issues with the mobile application, we will need to know the specific error message that you're receiving.

The DIRECTV Player is also confirmed to be working for Windows PCs/Macs. If you're using a Windows Laptop or Macbook, etc., the player should be downloadable and streaming content without issue. In some cases, deleting the player, reinstalling and clearing the browser cache is required if you're receiving errors on the attempt to use the player.

Most networks offer streaming for their services directly from their websites or apps without needing an external player. You should be able to stream programming directly from the Chrome browser on your Chromebook when accessing the network website (as long as requirements are met on the network end).

When using 3rd party streaming, you would get authenticated by your provider login. Therefore let's say you want to stream USA Network, live TV or on-demand content. You would go here and choose "Watch Live." From that point, you will be prompted to select DIRECTV and log in with your credentials.

We appreciate you reaching out through our Forum, and we hope the information is helpful to your situation.
