Adding Streaming Apps to DirecTV

Are you a DirecTV (satellite) or DIRECTV STREAM (streaming-only) customer?

Also, if you have directv satellite, are you using the Gemini C71KW receiver with your Genie HD DVR?

You need the C71WK Gemini mini client to stream apps or a separate streaming device connected to the TV.

The only box with DirecTV that supports streaming apps is the Gemini (C71KW). No other receiver or Client has the capability.

This is brand new. The Gemini is the box for DIRECTV STREAM but they made some with software/firmware for DirecTV (satellite) so it functions as both a Client of the Genie and a dedicated streaming box.

If you don't have the Gemini, then you will need to use streaming apps the normal way with something like a Roku, Firestick, etc.

Comes down to DirecTV is still focused on their service which is by satellite so any streaming options are secondary, not what it was built for.
