10 Days till Football season and hardcore NFL non-streaming fans are still being hung out to dry by the NFL, Youtube and Directv
I've been trying to gauge if I'm the only one who had NFL Sunday Ticket for over 20 years and is now screwed by this streaming only garbage on Youtube Tv. I'm a hardcore NFL fan and I do not just watch one game at a time, I constantly switch channels and watch as much as I can. I refuse to pay $400 to YoutubeTV so I have to wait 8 seconds each time to change channels and basically pull my hair out due to the frustration. It is a horrible viewing experience. Directv it takes just 3 seconds to switch channels. Is the NFL blocking a deal between YoutubeTv and Directv to provide select customers(preferably those who have had it for years and paid full price) Sunday Ticket? Youtube is desperate for susbcribers, they are striking promotional deals with anyone and everyone to try to increase numbers. A deal with Directv where they get all of the profits is a no brainer. Directv can add their own small fee if they want to get something out of it. Most people would pay to avoid a crappy streaming experience. As of now I'm stuck with the Redzone channel, Sundays will never be the same, they've gone downhill thanks to this move by the NFL.
DIrectv is offering new customers who sign up with them AND sign up for Sunday Ticket on YoutubeTv a $400 gift card. Yet they can't strike a deal for displaced customers who a streaming only package is useless? Perhaps I'm on an island here, so let's see what others have to say.

No, The NFL sold the rights to YouTube, YouTube is not allowed to sell the games to anyone else.

Are you part of the contract negotiations? Because Directv has the commercial rights, so not like it'd be some cable company broadcasting games. Are you telling me that if Youtube can only get 100,000 subscribers they would have to just sit back and lose billions of dollars because the NFL won't let them do whatever is possible to get a return on their investment? No one's asking them to go to Comcast or anyone else. I'd be buying Sunday Ticket from Youtube to watch on Directv until they get their act together and speed up their load times. The NFL blocking that would be just dumb, but whatever, they've shown over and over again they don't care about their fans. I'm not the type of fan they should be (Edited per community guidelines) off. I watch their crappy games between 2 non playoffs teams all the way through while the casuals tune out.
Anyway, thanks for the reply.

Yes, You Tube stands to lose money but unlikely, just like the NFL sold the rights to DTV, DTV wasn't allowed to sell the games. The NFL owns the games and are the only ones that can sell them. DTV only can provide the games to business like sport bars that is all they could get from the NFL.

My suggestion makes too much sense. There's no selling involved if Youtube gets 100% of the money. But the NFL will probably block it. Everpass Media sells commercial rights so God knows what's in that contract, but it's sad that bars and restaurants were prioritized over hardcore fans at home. I just dread only having the RedZone channel and 2 games to watch on Sundays. But looks like that's how it will be. I will not pay $400 to spend most of my day waiting for games to load.
Thanks for the reply. I agree with you on the rural accounts. Unfortunately, Directv couldn't afford to keep it and the NFL loves exclusive contracts. I think it's going to backfire, only big sports league to do streaming only, but let's see what happens.

The NFL doesn't allow it so there is nothing to block. Like everything You Tube outbid DTV.

Do you work for Youtube? I guarantee things will change if YoutubeTv does not come close to their target number. They aren't even close to the 3 million to 4 million they need to break even. Year one is very important because subscriber numbers to these packages rarely go up. Everyone getting it for free or with a promo this year is not guaranteed to come back, so it would behoove everybody to dig far and deep for as many subscribers in year one. They just decided that they were going to force streaming on all the Directv 20+ year subscribers, well here's one who's not having it. I will hold the line until streaming sports matches the quality of linear/satellite. You try changing between 9 games that are streaming over and over, then switch to the blacked out game that you can only watch on the main CBS or FOX channel and back. It's infuriating because it takes forever. My rant is over, I'm just so (Edited per community guidelines) about this lol. Good luck to everyone. I'm out.

Nope, retired and never worked for any streaming service or DTV. Yes, You Tube/NFL could lose millions but that is the chance they took.
