Wireless U-verse receiver won't connect to U-verse service

Our wireless receiver stopped working a few days ago - it would reboot, and showed a connection to the WAP but wouldn't work. We did the trouble shooting steps of unplugging everything and then plugging back in in a specific order - still nothing.

ATT sent us a new wireless receiver box and WAP. Set everything up - and went through the connection process. It connected. However, we get the message that the receiver is temporarily unable to connect to the AT&T U-verse service. When I click on diagnostics, it shows that we have a stable connection to the network - everything says ok. But no connection to the AT&T network.

We'd be glad to help you connect your receiver, ericcoxtcu.

Your receiver may be too far away from your WAP. Move your wireless receiver closer to the WAP, then pair them by pressing the WPS button on your WAP and the OK button on your wireless receiver. Pairing takes about two minutes. If pairing is successful, the Link light on your wireless receiver should turn green.

Many receiver problems can be fixed by restarting your receiver. Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds. This takes 5-8 minutes. You can also reboot your wireless gateway by unplugging it from its power source. Wait a few minutes, then plug it back in.

Let us know if this helped or if you need further assistance.

I have a bad VIP2250 that failed after five years. Where can I go in Columbus to exchange it for a working one?

@DpT   You cannot exchange equipment in person.  You have to call CS 1-800-288-2020 & request a new DVR and/or STB.  One will be sent for a self-install.  You have 21 days to return the bad one via FedEx/UPS.  You'll get an email with instructions.

Ultimately none of the troubleshooting worked. A technician came out and had to do something to our boxes (reprogrammed or reregistered). We had done all the recommended steps, and walked through additional steps with phone support.
