WAP and 2.4GHz WiFi interferrence

When my WAP is plugged in, the PAIRED light is blinking and my 2.4GHz WiFi is non-functional. I have no issues with my WiFi boxes, however as soon as I unplug the WAP, my 2.4GHz WiFi is just like it was prior to my service call and an unsuccessful attempt to connect a third WiFi cable box.

That's strange, as the WAP is a 5 GHz only device, and shouldn't have much effect on 2.4 GHz.

That said, be sure that the WAP is at least 3 feet from the Gateway, preferably further if the cord will reach.  If you haven't already, power cycle the Gateway as well as the WAP.

Let's get your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band working, @corayb

Like @JefferMC said, you'll want to restart your WAP and gateway.

  1. Unplug the power cord from the back of your gateway or hub. If you have:
  2. An internal battery backup, remove it.
  3. DSL service, unplug your telephone cord from your modem or gateway.
  4. Wait 20 seconds.
  5. Put the internal battery back in, if applicable.
  6. Plug the power cord back in. If you have DSL service, reconnect the telephone cord.
  7. Wait up to 10 minutes for the gateway or hub to restart.

Along with the steps, can you let us know the enviornment that your gateway is in? By using the Wi-Fi signal strength section in the aforementioned link, you can find out  houwy our eniornment could be impacting youe 2.4 Ghz signal. Also, can you let us know exactly how your service was activing prior to your service call?
