Volume button on remote doesn’t work volume on tv

I have a Samsung TV and the volume control on my AT&T remote doesn’t control volume on TV. All other remote functions work, the volume control doesn’t go up or down. There is sound on tv but it isn’t controlled by ATT remote ? Help

This problem was resolved by going through the online steps to reset the remote to the new device. Why every other feature worked before the reset except volume is a mystery to me

I had a similar problem. I discovered something that was in front of the TV not the box was blocking these buttons from working. I don't understand why but after I moved the item the mute and volume buttons worked.

When you press Power, Volume Up/Down or Mute, Infrared Light (IR) commands are sent that the TV responds to.  When Power is pressed, an IR command is also sent to the U-verse TV Receiver to tell it to toggle power.  When most any other button is pressed, it sends the IR command for the TV Receiver.

The previous commenter needed to move the blockage from in front of the TV's IR sensor so that the TV could see the signals from the remote.

It is possible for you to select a TV model that powers the TV on and off, but doesn't handle the volume/mute correctly.  You can try redoing the TV model selection.
