Uverse remote controls
I have a S30-S1B remote. The FF and REW controls are not well calibrated.
When I FF at >> and stop, it jumps forward another 4 seconds and plays.
When I FF at >>> and stop, it plays without jumping back -- not taking account of any FF overshoot.
When I FF at >>>> and stop, it plays without jumping back -- not taking account of any FF overshoot.
When I FF at >>>>> and stop, it jumps forward another 4 minutes and plays.
When I REW at << and stop, it jumps back another 3 secs and plays.
When I REW at <<< and stop, it jumps forward 3-5 secs and plays.
When I REW at <<<< and stop, it plays without jumping forward -- not taking account of any REW overshoot.
When I REW at <<<<< and stop, it jumps back another 3-4 minutes and plays.
This is poor UI design, hardware deficiencies, or both. I have to use multiple FF and/or REW pushes to get to the point where I want to watch. My Apple TV remote, by contrast, is very predictable.
Further, my Jump Back key is set at 6 seconds, which requires several pushes to get back 15 or 30 seconds to see something I missed. I can't find any way to reprogram that key, which I can do on an Xfinity remote.
It seems to me AT&T doesn't mind a crappy UI, whereas Apple obsesses over them.
Any suggestions, besides changing to Xfinity?

Well, what would you do when Comcast gives you a negative experience?
Press menu on your remote, go to options and then I'd run the remote set up again.
If that doesn't work, a simpler suggestion might be to change the batteries.

Well Mr Ace Professor, I had already put fresh batteries in. I did run remote setup again, but it was elsewhere in the Menu (no matter).
FF >>>> still overshot the stop point, and di not rewind to compensate. No obvious change on other levels of FF and REW.
It's a crap UI. Always has been. A cellular company just doesn't put the obsessive attention into UI that Apple does. I guess no company does.

I am back from another home in an Xfinity market, where I ran the same tests with their X1 remote. Surprisingly accurate FF and RWD stops at all speeds. As a bonus, the X1 remote had a 15 sec jump back and a 30 sec jump ahead.
Spent two weeks with that remote, with consistent performance. The Xfinity UI team has clearly spent some time tuning their remote and giving the customer what they want -- which is getting to what they want to watch without extra FF and RWD commands.
U-Verse needs to put in this time ASAP. Next time I have a choice I will go with Comcast.

@skeeterintexas any ideas?
Perhaps it's an older receiver. Perhaps a whole-room reboot is in order.
