Uverse on new Samsung TV with Alexa

Everything works together fairly well unless the Uverse box has turned itself off. Then I have to turn it on with its own remote. With the older FireTVCube I could at least say “turn on cable” to do so.

Upon further research, we've found that the U-verse receiver is not fully compatible with all of Alexa's capabilities. This could explain why you're no longer able to use Alexa to power the receiver on and off.

We'll submit this information to have our support team take a look and see if they'll be able to resolve this with a firmware update. We apologize for any inconvenience!

Thanks. Again, the ability to turn the uverse box on and off was available with the FireTV Cube, via infrared control. The new Samsung TV is able to control the box (channels, etc) apparently via HDMI as there is no IR emitter, at least not a dongle like I had with the Cube.
