Uverse DVR doesnt link when using a different ethernet cable than what ATT provided

I have my Uverse DVR ISB7500 wired with an ethernet cable provided by ATT. When I connect it with a different cable, the link light flashes slowly and never makes a connection. It works perfect when its connected with the provided cable however I need a longer cable. I am not sure what the issue is and why it only works with the supplied ethernet cable. All the cables are terminated thr same on both ends and I have tried both a Cat5 and Cat6 cable. Any help woth this issue would be great.

Make sure your Ethernet is not an x-over cable

I’m using my own cable and it works fine, granted it’s not a Cat 6. In fact, it’s connected via a Cat 5 to the gateway to a simple dedicated switch with a Cat 5E run to the DVR.  Just offering as an example.

I run all three of my TV Receivers over Ethernet, and none use an AT&T-provided cable.  (AT&T originally connected two of them via coax which I changed to Ethernet.)  This includes wiring through walls, etc.  There's nothing really special about AT&T's Ethernet cable, so I think you must have a bad Ethernet cable.

Yeah they arent x over cables and I have made my own with Cat5 and still run in to the issue. Very aggravating. The termination in the wall shouldnt cause any issues because it works great with the ATT supplied canle. I'm at a koss right now.
