Uverse cable box freezing and unfreezing while watching recorded program

I have a DVR, a wireless box, and a wired (coax) box. When playing back a recorded show, the wired box has begun freezing for a second or two, then starting and working for a few minutes, then freezing again over and over.  The DVR and wireless boxes do not have this problem. I have tried rebooting and checking connections.  Nothing seems to help.

Here's what I'd do:

Call 800-288-2020. They may just want to send a replacement box. If they do, simply take the old one back to UPS or FedEx and they'll do the rest. It may be helpful to have your account number when you visit the UPS or FedEx location.

Here's where things get tricky.

They may want to send a wireless box. Before you call, test your wireless box where the faulty receiver is. If it works there, you're good. If it's too far from the WAP, you may need to insist on a wired box.

Alternatively, if you don't need full functionality, you can use a streaming device with the various apps. If you have a firestick, there's a U-Verse app...you won't have DVR access, but you'll save money. (It's a good idea for a kid TV or guest room.)

If the wireless box doesn't work there and if they send you a wired box....and if that doesn't work, call back. From there, they may want to send a tech to test things and maybe replace wires.

Thanks for the great advice.  I'll get on it.

Just as @baseballisback mentioned, you can give us a call at the number he listed to have a replacement receiver sent out.

Let us know how things work out.

I'd be hesitant to get a new box without knowing the wireless one would work in that room. If it is the wire, then that would obviously solve the issue if they do send the wireless.
