Uverse Box Upstairs ATT box not connecting: Wireless HDMI?

Wireless Uverse Box upstairs - not connecting to base.  I don't have a large house but for some reason my Uverse box cannot pick up a green signal until the half way point sitting on one of my stairs. It's crazy because I am paying for this , talk to people to trouble shoot things weekly and I still have this issue.

Not anything ATT offered to solve my issue , but I saw that there is a wireless hdmi extender that may help.  It seems that I need about 20 more feet.  I also see people having issues with HDMI extenders too.

Has anyone had issues like this and which hdmi extender worked for you ?

Let's see if we can get your U-verse receiver back up and running, @brotherrod7.

We recommend that you reboot your gateway because this will refresh the network. This should help with the connection with your receiver.

Let us know if this helps.

Please don't take me down the road every ATT customer service agent has 10 x bec I don't feel like it. I have already rebooted things and I need the best wireless hdmi , or something else creative, for this stuff.

BTW, I didn't say it wasn't working. I said it only reaches half way up my stairs and then it starts showing a red ))))

Hey @brotherrod7, we understand that you're having trouble with your signal not reaching your wireless receiver. Were here to help.

  • Are you using the Smart Home Manager to see what could be affecting your signal.
  • Also, yes a Wi-Fi extender can help with getting your signal to reach upstairs

Please let us know if that helps answer your question.

Sigh... Charles, Charles, Charles... you cannot use an Extender with U-verse Wireless Receivers.  Isn't that on your scripts somewhere?

@brotherrod7 , do you only have one wireless receiver?   How far from your Gateway is your WAP?  If less than 3 feet try to move it away from the Gateway (and closer to where you want your receiver).

You might can orient your WAP to help your receiver.  Normally the best signal is delivered on a horizontal plane around the WAP; you can possibly tilt the WAP to put the receiver in the horizontal plane to help reception.

It is not 3 feet....it is 20 feet down the hall and then  up the stairs a flight.  I cant believe this is so impossible with technology being what it is.  Thanks for trying to help Jeff.

Regarding the ATT feedback, it is obviously automated bec it looks like you didnt read what I wrote. I do have 3 wifi extenders, but that does not increase my uverse connection as I said I was going to get an HDMI extender(not wifi).  Also, Smart home manager does not tell me what is effecting my signal. A wall is the likely source as WPS is in the master bedroom downstairs back of the house and the uverse unit is upstairs almost in front of house.  Thx
