U Verse tv channel malfunction

I cannot get my tv to change channels nor will it show the Guide. Volume control works. I’ve reset multiple times to no avail

Unplug the box in question.

Wait 30 seconds.

Plug back in.

If this is the DVR, please allow five minutes before the next scheduling recording time to allow it to fully restart.

Did it work?

Unfortunately it didn’t. The power on light as well as the green and blue lights are ON on the TV U-verse Receiver. Maybe the receiver is bad?

The green light means there's a connection to the gateway.

The blue light means there's an HD connection.

Those lights on? A good sign.

Press "help" on the U-Verse remote.

Go to the TV setup option.

Follow instructions.

I don’t have a Help button on my remote and the TV just plays the one channel with no response other than volume and On/Off. T TV Receiver shuts off after a lapse of time.

Can you press the "Menu" button?  There's a "Help" option from there.

I suspect you have an older remote and not on ATT setting.

If you have an S10 (black) or gray remote press ATT on top left.

These remotes have 5 buttons across the top

There is a "Menu" button on the front of the receiver.  Press that and navigate with the buttons on the receiver.

Hi Jmlewis49, we can help you fix your remote's functionality.

Thank you, baseballisbackskeeterintexas, and my thoughts, for your assistance.

Based on the fact that the gateway and HD connection look good, we think you should troubleshoot the remote itself.

For the S10, Silver, and Point Anywhere remotes, follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the AT&T and the OK key simultaneously.
  2. Release both keys and all four mode keys will flash twice to indicate you are in programming mode.
  3. Enter programming code 900 by pressing the number keys on the remote control. The AT&T key will give a long flash, indicating the code was successfully entered and the remote has been reset to the default settings.

For the S20 and S30 remotes, follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the Menu key and the OK key simultaneously.
  2. Release both keys and your remote will flash twice to indicate programming mode.
  3. Enter programming code 981 by pressing the number keys on the remote control. The Power key will flash four times indicating the code was successfully entered and the remote has been reset to the default settings.

If resetting the remote doesn't help, visit our equipment and accessory store to order a replacement.

If you need help with anything else, we'll be here. Thanks for visiting the AT&T Community Forums.

I did those and the remote flashed accordingly etc. and  now the TV won’t respond to any remote commands nor cut off.
