transfer my recordings to the new DVR

AT&T is sending me a replacement DVR (U-Verse), because the one I have is malfunctioning intermittently, however, I have a number of TV programs recorded on the DVR.  I am told that I will lose all those recordings when I replace the DVR with the new one.  Is there any way to transfer my recordings to the new DVR, or recover them somehow?

You don't necessary need a VCR to record programs off the analog ports of your Uverse DVR. You can buy small video capture devices to record to a USB stick. I used to do this years ago with my Tivo when I ran out of room. Sorry I can't give you a name of the device I used since I go rid of it years ago. Obviously the recordings will be of standard definition quality.

New edit. I checked my 2008 Amazon purchases and the device was called:
The Neuros MPEG4 Digital Video Recorder.
The model I had actually saved to a SD card. But there was a model that used a USB stick.

Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, Amazon does not have
The Neuros MPEG4 Digital Video Recorder in stock.

When I change to the new DVR which AT&T is sending me, do I also lose
all my listings of series which I set up for recording? And, if so,
How do I input the list series which I want to record? Is there a way
of inputing the series names into the recording options?

Your scheduled recordings will stay intact.

I have been with AT&T U-Verse for over 25 years. I have been pleased with the service and I use the DVR to record programs everyday and have several hundred recordings. My son is moving into my house and because he needs much more speed for working at home, we will have to switch to Infinity since AT&T is not on fiber at my address and cannot offer the speed needed. Is there anyway I can save my U-Verse DVR recordings and hopefully transfer them to Infinity's DVR? Will appreciate your help. Thank you!

We're here to answer and DVR questions you may have regarding your DVR, @Karen_S!

We do no support cross compatibility with other service providers at this time, so you would not be able to transfer your recordings over.

Don't hesitate to reach back out if you ever need our assistance again.

UverseTV was launched in 2005 (17 years).
