The set top box does not match the account settings

Help. Trying to connect a new wireless cable box and I keep receiving the error ‘the set top box does not match the account settings’. Any way to fix this? I’ve been on hold with AT&T for a half hour now…

Continue to wait on hold until the AT&T rep picks up.  That error means that the box phoned home and it isn't assigned to the AT&T account that's associated with the Gateway it's connecting through.

The AT&T rep will have to make sure that receiver is correctly assigned to your account; there's nothing you can do about the issue other than contact them.
