I believe I’ve seen this happen on my DVR box not too long ago. It may have required a factory reset to recover it. If a simple unplug and reboot doesn’t clear the problem, do the plug and unplug three consecutive times spaced by a few seconds. On the last boot up you should see a gray gear with a progress indicator and will take several minutes to complete at which point the U-verse logo should appear.
This procedure will only work with a valid, active connection to att backend servers.

The green light shows there is an active connection. If this light isn't on, you've got potential issues.
The red light shows there's a recording in process. This goes on/off as stuff records.
The blue light shows the HD connection is active....I think. This light will probably always be on.
The oval shaped one is the power light. If this light is on, the box is on.

this process did not work for me. I unplugged the device several times and all three lights are on and i have a red "X" on my tv screen.
