Enlighten me, please. Why would anyone knowingly want to subscribe to a dead ended and no longer being enhanced hardware platform? Also considering how many ways exist to stream paid content. Time to move on.

It is possible to get Uverse TV back because I was able to do so about a month ago. I had Uverse TV from July of 2017 until July 2023. To make a long story short they quit giving out promotions ( that I was usually successful getting every year) and the price went way up.
I gave Directv stream a try and liked it for the most part until they sent an update which changed a few things but it made the service very slow ( using their dedicated Osprey Boxes) navigating the menu's, etc and my 73yo mom just didn't like it and we both realized we should have just kept Uverse TV although very expensive.
Since I still had Fiber internet and home phone with T I called them up and when prompted asked to cancel service. That got me through really fast and I basically just told them nicely that I made a mistake dropping Uverse TV and would like to get it back if possible otherwise I may have to cancel all of my services and go to spectrum. The AT&T rep put me on a brief hold and came back and to my surprise said yes you can have it back but there will be no promotions. Two days later tech shows up and I've had Uverse TV up and going since. The only problem I am now having is they gave me different equipment than I originally had although my setup is the same ( everything hardwired via ethernet)...they have given me STB's that have both wireless and hardwire ability and every time a reboot is needed or if the power flickers these STB's are a major pain to get back up and going but thats another story and I will have to solve soon................anyways I would call their cancellation department and ask nicely and you might get lucky like I did hopefully. It never hurts to ask............
The official position is that you cannot get U-verse TV back. No one should have the expectation that they'll be able to accomplish what you described above, regardless of the situation.
@Greglopez31 thanks for the advice on the battery backup I will give that a try! and like you I will continue to enjoy Uverse while it lasts. And and when it shuts down and I have to switch I will cross that bridge when it gets here but until then not gonna worry about it I'm just thankful I was able to get it back after having it disconnected for about 4 months.

Not possible.
IMPORTANT U-VERSE UPDATE
U-verse TV is no longer available for new customers. Current U-verse TV customers can continue to access their service here.

Why do people continue on Cable TV?
Why are DIRECTV and Dish still in business?
It's because it meets their needs.

Excellent! Try connecting them to a backup battery like those for computers so when you’re power flickers they’ll stay powered on.
