Poor Tech Support

One of the TV boxes for our Uverse went bad the other day.  We have been on the phone multiple times over the course of the past few days trying to reach technical support.  Unfortunately it appears ALL of AT&T support has moved off shore.  From my experiences today I would have to say there are no requirements for being in AT&T UVERSE Support.  You don't need to speak english, nor do you need to understand english.  In fact, apparently you don't even need to know the difference between UVERSE and the INTERNET.

I figured if I went down to the local store they would help.  That was a wrong conclusion.  The folks in the local store actually laughed and said "good luck" when I told them I was trying to get through ATT support.  Imagine employees of the company out loud laughing at their company in the middle of the store!

I've been with AT&T all my life and would hate to walk away but what are you supposed to do if you can't get past the offshore folks.  They claim they can't send you back to the United States.  When you ask for a supervisor you either get disconnected or remain on hold until you hang up.

Does anyone have ANY suggestions on how to get someone in Customer Service that cares about AT&T customers or is it time to go to Spectrum?

AT&T Stores want to sell.  Usually they want to sell Wireless, but can occasionally be bothered to sell something else on which there are a lot of incentives to sell, like AT&T TV.   They do not want to support what they sell, and they will not support what they do not sell.  So, yes, write the stores off.

Calling the 800-288-2020 number should work.  Yes, some are easier to understand and can follow their scripts better than others.

If you want, you can try scrolling to the bottom of the page, clicking on Contact Us and going through the navigation for TV / U-verse and clicking the Chat button.  Be warned, these people also want to upsell you on AT&T TV or Wireless or anything because the company that does the Chat for AT&T has sold AT&T on their ability to turn their customers into additional $$$.

I like the AT&T U-verse TV service.  It is getting rather expensive without promotional discount, but I still remember Charter TV service well enough I don't I'm willing to tough it out a bit longer.

800-288-2020 was the first place we started.

After posting my comment I got on the phone with Spectrum.  They answered the phone right away.  It was refreshing to get connected to a call center that is here.  They'll be out Monday to install.  Silver lining - they're cheaper.

To AT&T -

This is why I moved all of my familys' phones to another provider three months ago.  NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT.  You charge top dollar for your products but provide sub-par support.

So, as a life-long loyal AT&T customer, all I can say is I regret doing this, but money is money, service is service and you didn't give me a choice.  Sadly, I don't think you even care.

Are they "cheaper" meaning "lack of quality" or meaning "once the promotions wear off, they'll be quite expensive?"

Actually they come in with a less expensive price.   For the deal they offered me there isn't a "promotional price", so this will be considerably cheaper over time.  Lower cost, local business with American workers and techs; overall a much better deal.

Spectrum...PROMISES..PROMISES. You probably got a special 12 month deal, then higher prices.   I dont have Spectrum, but I get junk mail from them at least once a week. I have called them repeatedly to have that stopped!  It never does, they say they will stop it but dont! Good luck with your new venture, once you drop uverse, you can't go back. They want you to buy the new streaming service.  If it were not for my wife, I would drop the service and just watch one of the 34 off air channels I get from the antenna. Plenty to watch and it is free!
