Tv reception constantly stops and starts. I heard they are offering a new type of hookup
There is no new hookup for U-Verse TV. It is a grandfathered service, no longer being offered. They do have other TV providers under the AT&T umbrella.
You need to provide more info then just old and doesn't work properly. Describe the issue in as much detail as possible, including model numbers of equipment, symptoms, any error messages, as well as any troubleshooting you have tried (if any). Just like going to a doctor's office, nobody can help without knowing what you are experiencing.

You can also call 800-288-2020 and ask for tech support.
The first thing I'd do is make sure you're not set to record anything for 15 minutes, then:
Unplug wireless receivers.
Unplug DVR.
Unplug gateway and WAP.
Wait 45 seconds.
Plug gateway and WAP back in.
Plug DVR back in.
Plug other receivers back in.
Resetting electronic devices can solve/fix a lot of common issues.
