If I were you I'd chk with a local AT&T store about a time frame for availability in your area. When I discovered that we had service available here in Gran Valley...on the U-Verse web site I didn't believe it. We went to our local store over in Independence and found out it was true. They had a fellow on the staff who handled our order and we have been U-Verse users for a week now. Made the switch from Comcast WITH PLEASURE. So far......everything is going pretty well. There are pluses and minuses of course......just like with everything new. But we feel we are getting a lot more for our money. The pluses way out balance the minuses as far as we are concerned. Frankly the only negative we've discovered (and I'm not sure one can really call it a negative) is that we get glitches during the commercials. We see them while watching live and they also show up in HD recordings as quick forward jumps which leaves out most of the commercial. AND we don't have to touch a thing. It's probably not deliberate but one might consider it a positive as lon as the glitches don't start showing up in the program material.
We have the U-300 with both TV and Internet pro. I formerly had my DSL with my regular AT&T phone service. We also have AT&T cell service. I hope we can get all bills combined into one before too long.
Our main, living room TV is the Sony 55" high def. rear projection LCD type. It is razor sharp on HD and has supurb color and highlight and shadow detail. We feel the image is, perhaps, slightly better han we received from Comcast HD service. I had to make color, brightness and contrast adjustments to optimize the image. It initially was somewhat different from Comcast. The AT&T U-Verse pictures seem to have more contrast and highe color saturation than we were accustom to.
We look forward to all the new features yet to come.
Oh yes.....I forgot.....the cost beats the heck out of Comcast. Plus.....the Internet service is included. We've been paying AT&T phone service $25 per month for the DSL pro service so that alone will be a $300 per year saving. Also we, just the other day, received a post card from Comcast with their schedule of increased prices for their cable service. U-Verse came along just in time.
Mizzou basketball games are on Metro Sports in Kansas City. Are they available somewhere else on u-verse (maybe FSN?) or are they not available at all since MEtro Sports is not on u-verse?
Can anyone tell me about the HD picture quality they get from U-Verse, is it better, same or worse than cable HD quality?
Thanks in advance.
I'm in Grain Valley, MO. We have excellent HD image quality here.....at least as good as what we got from Comcast. Nice and sharp...assuming the original was shot in HD, which often is not the case. But there have been quite a few reports of dissatisfaction with the HD picture quality. In our case, however, we are happy.
Is anyone else here in KC outraged that the opening Royals series on the new FSN-KC is not in HD on U-verse even though FoxSports is broadcasting it in HD to EVERY other cable provider within 200 miles? I tune to FSMW-HD on 1748 and its off the air as usual. I am forced to watch it in SD on 750. FoxSports website just says: "TBD" next to AT&T. That speaks volumes. Sign the contract already! Outrageous.
Game 3 of the Royals/Tigers game on right now ... presented by FoxSports in HD on FSN Midwest HD for every cable provider 'EXCEPT AT&T' which STILL is turned off. Thanks again for nothing, AT&T!

Personally I think their HD quality is as good as Directv's HD and SD is also about the same. Haven't had cable HD but U* SD beats cable hands down.
