ISB7005 STB red X

I followed all of the normal & destructive reset instructions found at https://forums.att.com/conversations/uverse-tv-equipment/how-to-troubleshoot-your-dvrreceivers/5defc0c9bad5f2f606bd8568

and each time, the box just comes back up with a red X. (Usually with the number 2). I tried swapping in a different working box, and have been able to verify that the power supply is fine that way.

When trying the instructions in the link connected to wirless, the red X would appear 5 or so minutes after sitting on the screen with 1 gear & a load bar.

When trying with the box plugged into ethernet instead, the 1 gear screen would progress, but then the same as above would happen on the 2 gear screen.

I'm guessing this means the particular box needs to be replaced.

Yeah, it's probably time to replace. Call 800-288-2020 and ask for a replacement to be sent. Take the old box back to UPS/FedEx and they'll take care of the rest.

Hello,

No, it doesn’t.

You can’t recover a settop box using wireless.  Use an Ethernet cable and connect directly to gateway.  You’ll see that will properly reload its code and will boot up properly.   Afterwards when putting the box back in its original location, it should ask for the WAP link connection procedure to be performed.

One way I’ve found to avoid these problems is to put sensitive equipment like this on battery backup.  Otherwise the option to wait for a replacement is still there, but I’ve found it’s better to keep what you have if it works well.

Cheers.
