IR extender not working well with VIP2262 V2

It looks like the IR sensor is to the right of the USB, and if I put the IR extender transmitter there, it partly works but not very good at all. Are there any tricks for this? Are there any better boxes that I can request that work better with an IR extender?

I’d confirm the location of the sensor by placing an obstruction over the front panel and walking it slowly across until you confirm the exact spot. Beyond that I’m not aware of any tricks to make it work better.

You can control most functions of the settop box using the U-verse app, although many have issues with reliable connection.

Let's see if we can get your IR extender working better, @floridagator123!

Have you tried troubleshooting your remote directly? It could be the reason why the extender isn't working as well as it should.

You can access our Troubleshoot and Resolve tool from your TV.

Using the remote control, you'll want to follow these steps:

  1. Press Menu
  2. Select Help > Information.
  3. Select Troubleshoot & Resolve
  4. Press OK.
  5. Select TV > Remote Control > Troubleshooting, then follow the prompts.

You can also find more troubleshooting tips on our support site. Just look under Quick Fix tips.

Let us know if that helps!

The remote works fine. And I have tried moving the IR extender transmitter around until I found where it works best and it does not work well at all. Just curious if there are other boxes that might work better with an IR extender or if any boxes have RF capabilities? or would I need to purchase a RF remote and converter kit?

We could send a replacement receiver to see if it works better with the extender.

Or you could try purchasing an RF remote, but it may not work very well.

Let us know which route you'd like to take.
